The holidays are just about over. I ate and drank all the things, but rather than wait until the New Year to get back into my fitness routine, I’ve already started, so you won’t be posting the “New Year, New Me” mantra on Instagram from me. If you plan to work out in the new year, why not start before? Here are a few simple ways that I have been kickstarting my fitness routine:
Set A Goal
Decide how many times a week you can see yourself realistically getting some exercise in, and decide to do just that. So whether it’s one day a week or five, the decision is yours, but try your best to stick to your goal.
Treat Yourself To Some New Workout Clothes
Not that you ever need a reason to treat yourself, but if you’re anything like me, you know there is no better motivation to do any workout than to put on cute clothes. Better yet, it’s after Christmas, and a lot of sales are happening. Lululemon is my go-to brand, and some of their pieces can be on the higher end, but they do have a sale right now, so be sure to check it out! There are so many other brands with cute workout clothes, so find one that’s within your budget, put those clothes on, and get moving!
Go For A Walk
I love going for walks either solo or with friends. I have a gym membership, but when the weather is nice out, I prefer outdoor walks and enjoying fresh air over being indoors at the gym.
Get A Gym Membership or Take A Class
I have a Planet Fitness gym membership, which has been working well for me, and they also offer classes if I want to switch things up. But even without taking a class, there are so many different types of workout equipment to choose from that you can select the ones that will help you achieve your fitness goal. There are also services like Class Pass and Hotworx, which allow you to try different workouts. While I haven’t tried Class Pass, I tried Hotworx using a trial membership, but I didn’t enjoy it, so I won’t be returning.
Workout At Home
We’re no longer in a pandemic, but we all worked out at home when the world was shut down. With so many exercise apps or online videos available on YouTube, some of which require little to no equipment, you will find few that will work for you.
Get An Accountability Partner
While achieving our fitness goals boils down to how consistent we are, having an accountability partner plays a big part in keeping you motivated and ensuring that you are supporting each other and stay on track. A great accountability partner is trustworthy, positive, and non-judgmental, and one who shares your enthusiasm in helping you reach your goals.
